How are we doing?

Since we launched in November 2006:

Our climate is changing...

...and we can already see some of the effects here in Calderdale. If the climate continues to change at this rate, virtually every aspect of our lives at home, at school and at work will be different.

Together, we can tackle climate change. The first step is to really understand what's going on and why. And that's what Calderdale Climate Challenge is all about.

Our planet is surrounded by a blanket of gases which keeps the earth able to sustain life. But when we use energy in our homes, at work or on the move, we release millions of tonnes of gases into the atmosphere, making that blanket thicker and trapping heat.

Here in Calderdale, we release 1.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year. That's the equivalent of a layer more than two metres thick across the whole district. How do we do it?
